La Cache’s location north of Montreal, on a rocky cap within a dense forest, intertwines with the look and feel of the home. Nathalie Thibodeau Architecte’s design for this hilltop home plays with long vertical lines, and uses both large windows and a covered patio to immerse residents in the serene space.
Coming up to the house from its winding trail, the tall and dark vertical planks that wrap around the exterior seem to fade into the wooded background. This side of the home has very few windows.

A wooden and metal staircase connects to the home’s partial second floor. The balustrades feature long, black metal lines that echo the window frames and other touches of black throughout the home. Photography by Maxime Brouillet, information courtesy of ArchDaily
